Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro has suggested that Peter Obi and Goodluck Jonathan return to PDP talks are ongoing ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, August 26, Moro revealed that PDP stakeholders have reached out to Obi and Jonathan as part of a broader plan to reclaim power.

Abba Moro explained, “In the run-up to 2027, I am aware certain individuals have been talking to Peter Obi. If he comes back, he stands a chance of being the candidate.”

He added, “Some people are talking to the former president to come and run. It is conceivable.”

Jonathan, president from 2011 to 2015, lost his re-election bid to Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. Since then, he has maintained a low political profile and stayed away from PDP activities, despite calls from supporters for a comeback.

Peter Obi, former Anambra governor, left the PDP before the 2023 election to join the Labour Party, where he inspired youth voters and finished third behind Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu. Though Obi has signaled interest in 2027, his choice of party platform remains uncertain.

The PDP recently zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, a decision likely to shape alliances as Nigeria prepares for a fiercely contested election.
