The results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission to Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) at the 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) across the nation have been made public by the federal government. The results of the independent entrance exam for the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja, were also made public.

Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, described it as “a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria” during a news conference held in Abuja on Wednesday.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) administered the NCEE on June 14 and registered 64,578 candidates, of whom 61,290 sat and 3,288 did not show up.

“Out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, 13 candidates obtained the highest score of 202, while 27 candidates obtained the lowest score of 1”, Ms. Ahmad stated.

“This year, an unprecedented number of 52 candidates (two candidates from Lagos and 50 candidates from Rivers) were involved in examination malpractice,” she continued.

She reported that 3,421 candidates registered for the FGA Suleja exam, 3,141 took it, and 280 did not show up. The highest score was 194, and the lowest was 1.

Ms. Ahmad reiterated that the requirements for admission are still 60% merit, 30% equality of states, and 10% exigency. She gave the Senior Secondary Education Department instructions to make sure admissions were completed on time and in accordance with the rules.

“It is common knowledge that our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country. I want to assure all Nigerian parents that the government will continue to do her best to improve on infrastructural development, feeding and teacher quality for effective teaching and learning in our colleges,” she said.

The event also featured the formal presentation of the results to the minister by the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi.
